Dentist = Torture

Have any of you actually thought about the fact that we PAY these people to TORTURE us.  Seriously.  I just went to my cleaning on Tuesday and I always leave feeling so battered.  My issue?  Flossing.  yes yes yes you don’t have to tell me that it should be done.   But hey, I brush and to this date have never had a cavity.  I don’t have gum disease or anything like that and the dentist even said my teeth are healthy.  But flossing remains my one issue.  And of course its the one thing they can always tell if you DONT do it often.  Or if you don’t get down right rough like they do.  Me, when I do floss I tend to take it easy.  I ease it in between and work it up to the gums taking care not to tear it up.  And actually i know I’m not the only one.  I’ve seen other people floss who approach the procedure the same way.  The dentist on the other hand plows like through like a road raged driver.  I think they must take pleasure in it to b/c no amount of grimacing and trying to arch away (which is impossible anyway in that darn chair) will deter them.  They are on a mission and will not be unsuccessful.  I wouldn’t even be surprised if they have a scoreboard tucked away somewhere Needless to say my mouth was literally throbbing when I left.  I felt like my gums were 3 times the normal size for at least 3 hours afterwards.  Ugh.   At least it’s every 6 months and not every month.

Baby Conversation

Last night J asked me where babies come from.  Hmmm   Of all the questions to ask and I have no idea what brought it on.  Quite possibly due to several of her friends at school have mommies who are pregnant.  Anyways, this was our conversation:

J: Mommy, where do babies come from
Me: From their mommies tummy
J: They come out of their belly?
Me: Yes
J: So I came out of your belly?
Me: Yes
J: But Caleb came out of his daddies belly right?
Me:  No, daddies can’t have babbies, only mommies
J: Oh…..Caleb came from his mommies tummy?
Me: Yes J
J: And Alec to?
Me: Yes
J: Wow, Ms Robyn had 2 babies in her belly?
Me:  She has, yes
J:  Did her belly get really big?
Me: I guess so
J: How big was it?
Me: I really don’t know
J: Was it as big as Aunt Danielle’s
Me: I don’t think so
J:  Oh….Aunt Danielle doesn’t have a baby in her belly.  She just ate to much

At that point I was trying my darndest not to laugh cause she was so serious about it.  I didnt want to encourage her but I also totally was expecting the direction that conversation took.   Anyone else had the baby talk yet?

Black Friday Fun

So Robyn and I decided we would camp out at Target so we could land a deal on a pretty nice camera.  She was getting it for a christmas present and me, well mine is almost dead.  It’s over three years old and has certainly seen better days.  I think the regular price on it was $160 and it was on sale for $80.  Target also had the 1G memory cards on sale for $10 from regular $25.  Originally we planned to show up about 3am to hopefully get towards the front of the line.   Then we decided to just go up about 11pm because we knew they would not have a ton of the cameras and we wanted to make sure we were close enough to the front that we would get them.  So we bundled up, packed up a couple sleeping bags, our phase 10 games, and headed to Target.

Of course the one we went to apparently is brand new and it’s believed that people may not have realized they were doing the Blackfriday deals.  We of course were the first in line and actually, the only one in line till about 4am when others started trickling in.  It was pretty cool though.  The manager knew we had been out there so long and let us and a few others in for a head start.  Yea!!!  He opened the doors and it was a mad dash to the back of the store.  LOL  We snagged the cameras and the memory cards, paid for those, then took our time just wondering around for a minute.  I picked up a new magna doodle for Jayden b/c the one she had got busted by the kids my sis babysat back when she lived with me.  I also picked up 3 DVD’s: Shrek the 3rd, Open Season, and Flicka for a grand total of $35.  Over all not a bad morning.   And we got it all done and were back home by 6:30am.

Now we are on our way up to NYC to visit and get some photo’s.  When I say that I mean literally to.  Ya gotta love mobile internet as I’m clacking away on my laptop while Robyn drives.  I’m loving the new camera already and I’ve only gotten to play with it a little bit.  the view screen is huge, the photo’s come out clearer to.  It has an option to crop the photo’s right in the camera and the video option lets you hear the recorded sound as well as pause, fast forward, and rewind.  Pretty nifty.   I should be able to get some nice shots this weekend!  There will definitely be plenty to b/c I’ve never been to NYC before.   It should be fun.  I’ll blog about it later.

Thankful

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches quickly I thought I’d put up a list of things I’m thankful for this year.

*Jayden is healthy, happy, strong, and growing more every day.  I can’t believe she is already 4 and everyday she amazes me with something new.   The other day i was surprised to learn she knows the difference between right and left, understands certain punctuation marks, can count backwards from 5, has mastered writing her own name, and can sing an abundance of new songs.

*I have a reliable job with some measure of job security.  I hear more and more of people getting laid off or fired for one reason or another and it makes me thankful that I have a job still there each day.  Granted there are other jobs but I love the people I work with and as much as I gripe my boss has always been good to me.

*My friends.  The people I can talk to about anything and everything and not feel as though I’m being judged.  The ones that keep me grounded and on the right path.  The ones I can laugh with over little things.  Stay up late playing phase10 or just talking.  I wish I coudl see some of you so much more but unfortunately we’re spread out across the country.  One day, when i win the lottery, I’ll get us all together on our own private resort to relax and have fun!!

*I have had a pretty healthy year as well.  Not like years past where I was plagued with one wierd sickness or another.  This year, except for my recent bout with a sinus and ear infections, I haven’t missed a single sick day.  Course, that could just be me being stubborn and not admitting when I’m sick!! LOL

*My family.  Even though sometimes they drive me batty and make absolutely no sense in their decisions.  they are still my family.

*Heidi showing me the joys of food storage.  Girl, if you only knew how it’s saved me at the moment.  Things are tight right now and it has helped tremendously not having to buy large quantities at the store to last till next payday.  Just having to pick up bare essentials has been a life saver on more than one occasion.  You can bet I’ll be passing it on as well as stocking up even more as soon as things turn around.

A Must Read

This book was recommended by Heidi and then Robyn.   I’m only half way through and have the hardest time putting it down!  Anyone looking for a good book I definitely suggest this one.

Infections and dating

Interesting title right??? LOL   The last few days I haven’t been around much.  I think all this working and running around has finally caught up with me and my body finally demanded a rest.  I started feeling off on Sunday and by Wednesday I was at the doctors office with a Sinus infection and double ear infection.  Ouch!  So I spent Wednesday resting and thanks to some pretty powerful medicine I’ve been sleeping quite well at night.  Feeling much better now although a bit loopy at times to.   It just makes my days more interesting I suppose.

Last night I had my first date in quite awhile.  Nice enough guy and he does a pretty good job at making me laugh.  It was just dinner and a movie and to be honest I thought I might have scared him off!!  Keeping in mind the medicine I’m in can make me a little loopy or a little slow on the response.  Depends on when ya catch me.  Between him being cute, me being on a date, and the medicine I was a bit tongue tied most of the night.  Seriously, you would have thought I was a teenager again totally terrified of that species called boys.   Apparently I didn’t scare him off to bad though as we are going out again Saturday night so hopefully it will go much better.   Not that it was a disaster or anything.   I just like to be able to show I really can form complete sentences and follow a throught through to the end.   Stay tuned!!

The memories

How many of you look at your kids on occasion and just look in amazement.   In wonder that these are our kids, they came from us and are becoming their own individual before our very eyes.  yes, I had one of those moments today.  I was laying on the couch and Jayden was laying with me.   A rare moment as she has never really been a cuddler.   I looked at her and really saw just how much she has grown from when she was first born.   Just how quickly she has grown.  Thankfully I didn’t start bawling but i was close!!! LOL   It’s just amazing how fast time flies.  And so much more so fo rus it seems because we are constantly on the go.  Always running from one place to another.  Rushign from one thing to another to get everything done.   I wish I could say that it’s a remidner to slow down and honestly, sometimes I really try to.  But doing everything myself and trying to accomplish so many things it can be difficult.  I just tell myself that if I do it now while she’s really little then i can be for her more when she gets bigger.   Just more to think about……….

Another Addiction

Thanks to Robyn I now have another addiction.  Maybe two but I one I can see having a lot of.  A few weeks back we were at Robyns for Caleb’s birthday party.  And that night before we left she gave me a new drink….Chai tea.   Those who know me know I’m not into fancy or wierd stuff.  I’m a normal sweet tea girl but that was the extent of it.   but wow…this stuff was good!!  Ever since I had been meaning to ask Robyn where she got it so I could make it at home.  I can see myself drinking this more than hot chocolate and with teh nights getting cold it would be a good companion for when I’m up late working on what ever project.  I never got around to asking though and then this weekend we went back up to visit again.  Robyn was having this party where we taste foods….tastefully simple I think it was called.  They are the ones who make the mix for the tea so I ordered a can from them.  At $10 a can it better be good!!  LOL  In the mean time I picked up a cheaper version from our grocery store tonight.  It’s good. I had to alter the directions it gave to make it a little more milk flavored and not watery.  But it’s alright.  not as sweet and stuff as the other one but it will do for now.  Or when I’m in a pinch!
