$1 House??

So we have been in the house hunt for awhile although even I still wonder whats really going to happen.  House hunting sucks let me tell you.  But we had a funny that at least gave us a laugh for a bit thanks to J.  Last week my boss told me about a house pretty close to us that he was trying to sell or rent out.  He gave me the code to the lock box so we went to check it out.  I gotta say it’s nice goign with out a realtor in tow.  You can take your time and openly discuss things.   Sweet!  Anyways, on our way to the house we were talkinga bout it and J pipes up that SHE will buy the house for us.  “OH really?”   I said.  “Do you have enough money?”   She got that puzzled look on her face and said “how much is it?  $1?”    To which we laughed like crazy. Apparently we need to make fewer trips to the dollar store……where EVERYTHING is a dollar.  LOL

Good things come to those who wait…

And finally it’s my turn! I got word yesterday that I’m getting a promotion of sorts. I’ve been fighting for at least 3 years now trying to get out of direct sales and into more of the management side, preferrably with marketing or accounting. I’ve been really working on side projects and proposals and such and I guess finally I’mg etting my chance. There are a ton of changes going on in my office adn on top of that they have to plan for my maternity leave. My boss thought it was the perfect time to make some changes for me as well. So for right now through may I’ll be getting the 2 new people up to speed to run the office. then as of June I step into a project/marketing manager position.  I’ll be working side by side with the owner.  When he has ideas for things he wants to try I’ll be in charge of researching, compiling, figuring out best angles, all kinda of marketing projects and such.  I’ll have more flexibilty with some scheduling and itiwll work well for whenI take time off this fall.  I can spend the 3 months basically getting my feet wet, getting things in order and ready to go and then when I get back we jump in feet first ready to go!  LOL  I’m excited though.  It was nothing I expected when i went to the meeting with him on Thursday morning.  I was so shocked I didn’t even know how ot respond.  It’s going to be a busy but exciting adventure but it’s finally here!

Why God Made Mothers

1. She’s the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.

2. Mostly to clean the house.

3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.

2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.

3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.

2. They had to get their start from men’s bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We’re related.

2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people’s moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.

2. I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.

3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.

2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?

3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.

2. She got too old to do anything else with him.

3. My grandma says that Mom didn’t have her thinking cap on.

Who’s the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn’t want to be boss, but she has to because dad’s such a goof ball.

2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.

3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What’s the difference between moms & dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.

2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.

3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power cause that’s who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend’s.

4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don’t do spare time.

2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside, she’s already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.

2. Dye it. You know, her hair. I’d dye it, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I’d get rid of that.

2. I’d make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.

3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Hmmm

Not a whole lot going on these days it seems.  Trying to get things figured out for the house.  We put my house back in the hands of the property management and should have everything out by the 20th.  Right now I’m just putting it in storage until we figure out exactly whats going on with X to.  Apparently his lease ends much sooner than he thought and now has thoughts of buying a house.  Where…..we’ll be discussing that.  I really don’t want over an hour and a half commute to work every day and it’s really nto wise for me to switch jobs right now to avoid it.  So we’ll see.  In th emean time I just set up a PO BOX and have set up a storage unit.  It doesn’t make sense to move everything there just to sit around boxed up and in the way or to unpack it and then have to repack it again so soon.  So I’ll sacrafice the $40 a month for the convenience.  plus they apparently provide the moving truck for free when you first move things in so I’ll still only have to pay to move it to where ever we end up.

Nothing new to report on baby either.  I have myr egular check up today and then my ultrasound in 2 weeks! I am seriously hoping they will just do it today but I’m not holding my breath.  We’ve waited almost 18weeks already…2 more won’t really hurt I guess.   Blah.   here’s where baby is though if your interested!!  I’m apparently carryign a little bell pepper these days!

How your baby’s growing:

Head to bottom, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She’s busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you’ll likely start noticing more and more. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin and her ears are now in position and stand out from her head. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she’s born. If you’re having a girl, her uterus and Fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your baby is a boy, his genitals are noticeable, though he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

Real Movement

last night we were sitting on the couch watching a movie.  I had my feet tucked under me and my pants were kinda pulled tight.  Probably what helped with noticing the feeling!  Anyways,  out of no where I felt the babe move.  Like a serious move.  Not just a small flutter or bubbles.   It was an instant flashback to feeling J rub against me or roll over.  According to babycenter.com the baby is “4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado” so I don’t think I was imagning things or that it was gas.  Well, I know with out a doubt that it wasn’t gas!!

What I missed out on…

With J’s father we had broken up before I found out I was pregnant.  Then of course when I refused to get married just for that reason he disappeared fairly quickly and married someone else.   I guess I didn’t realize just how serious he was when he said “I won’t be unmarried when my first child is born”.  I guess to him it didn’t really matter if it was to the mother or tos omeone else.  Anyways, needless to say I went through that entire pregnancy basically on my own.  I didn’t get to experience having a partner who was excited or enthralled or confused or anything else that goes with it.  I made all the decisions myself and never had anothers point of view.  I can remember thinking how lucky the girls in a group I talked to were.  Talking about the things their hubbies did for them ro things that happened.  I never felt jealous though b/c I truely had no idea what it was all about.  Like that old saying…you can’t miss something you never had??

Well, now thats changed and I have to say it’s making me realize to it’s fullest extent just how much I missed.   It really is the little things to.  Like when he gets here, kisses me and then kisses my belly.  Or like last night…we were laying in bed and he had his head resting on the upper part of my belly while resting his hand on the lower part where baby is.  I can’t wait for when he can feel and see the movement too as it’s something he hasn’t experienced and it really is amazing.  There are other things to and they really are just small things that all add up.

I’m just wondering..

Do they teach school crossing guards how to do what they are supposed to???  Now this might seem really strange but after dealing with 2 on my way to work for the past few months I seriously have to wonder.   Hopefully this will make sense but here’s why:

Crossing guard #1
She stands guard at a fairly busy intersection.  The road I drive down (Presidential) comes to a stop sign to cross over a fairly busy road (S. Plaza).  Now S plaza is a very very busy in the morning as everyone from that neighborhood is on their way to work and leaving the subdivision.  Trying to cross that road in the morning is kinda like playing frogger for those of you who remember the old Atari game.   Now the crossing guard will stop traffic driving down S plaza to allow kids to cross the road and often times will allow for those of us waiting to cross over the ability to do so while traffic is stopped.   Now here is my confusion.  I’m sitting on one side and there is another car on the other side.  The guard indicates to the car opposite of me to go ahead and they more often than not are making a turn crossing directly in front of me.  It would be a left turn for them but they are going to my right.  At the exact same time she turns to me and indicates for me to go forward!!  Now I knwo the laws of traffic and technically I have the right away.  But she just told the guy on the other side to go so he has aready started?  Am i to floor it and try to beat him across??  Umm no.  And when I patiently wait for the guy to turn she is waving frantically at me to move.  Um hello?????  I seriously do not need to have an accident at the moment and it’s not like they will say it’s her fault.

Crossing guard #2
This guard also stands on Presidential just about 2 blocks after crossing S Plaza.  Directly to the left is the entrance to the middle and elementary school so she helps with kids crossing into the school from the subdivision across from it.  She apparently finds it necessary to direct traffic even though at this point, there is literally never more than 2 cars there at a time.  More often than not I am being stopped to allow another car to cross or turn in front of me.  Wait seriously, we are the only 2 cars on the road and it allows them a turn in a whole 2 seconds faster.  Was it really necessary to go through all that??  Is it really that difficult to allow the normal flow of traffic since it’s not congested in any way or causing any delay.  I could understand if we were bumper to bumper and stopping to allow traffic to cross in but man, for one car?

Ok, so I should stop ranting. I just deal with this every day and sometimes want to stop and just ask them “Why???”.

Enchanted at Cinema Cafe

I think we have discovered our new movie spot.   This past week J’s aunt had made a suggestion to take all teh girls to see Enchanted at the local cinema cafe.  I have known about the place.  There are several around town but I always just assuemd it would be fairly expensive and never bothered with it.  I mean they would charge you extra to be able to eat regular food and watch a movie right?  Not to mention woudln’t it be distracting to have servers in and out through the movie?  Well I looked it up online and turns out our Sunday movie is only $1.50 per person.   Now ya can’t be that!  So we saw the movie and I gotta say it was really good!  Much better than I was expecting. When they are combining animation with real life you just never know how it will go.   For this I think they did a darn good job. And the ending wasn’t what I was expecting either.  J sat through the entire movie totally into it which is a good thing.  So if anyone hasn’t seen it I definitely recommend it!
